CAD-CAM

At Reservedelsfabrikken A/S, we offer high-quality product development. This means that, based on the customer’s idea or sketch, and in dialogue with the customer himself, we can carry out the actual construction of a product with the help of our CAD/CAM systems. But what are CAD/CAM systems and what can they do?

CAD: Computer Aided Design

CAD is an abbreviation for Computer Aided Design and is a program in which you can create digital drawings that can subsequently be used in the production of physical products. This software can be used to create, modify, analyze or optimize a design as well as to increase a designer’s productivity as well as the quality of the product. It is a software that replaces the manual drawing with an automated process.

CAM: Computer Aided Manufacturing

CAM is the abbreviation for Computer Aided Manufacturing, which involves taking the geometries from a CAD design and creating codes that can be used on computer-controlled machines. For example, this can be with the help of 3D printers or CNC milling machines. This means that the CAD/CAM programs are connected, and it is therefore only by using both programs that you can go from an idea, which is based on the customer’s desired design, to the finished product, which is produced on machines based on CAM software.

Close cooperation is key

As part of product development, we at RDF work closely with the production environment, which ensures practical, realizable solutions that can be produced as economically as possible. The close contact between product development and production also means that there is a very short time between idea and finished product. At RDF, we strive to take product development to new heights through the use of CAD/CAM tools.
